Lean Design–What’s in it for Me?

Posted on Posted in Lean and Six Sigma

Lean design is not a new topic, nor is it one which everyone can see the value of.  After all, the principles come from the manufacturing world.  But, lean design’s benefits extend far beyond the walls of the factory or production line.

In any economy, it is important to maximize available resources.  It seems, though, we pay a little more attention to those details when times are tight, and we scramble to do everything we are used to doing, but with less than we had.  That’s where the principles of lean design are invaluable in any industry.

The core of lean design is about reducing waste and maximizing resources.  A great benefit and byproduct to eliminating unnecessary steps in processes increases satisfaction and encourages employee engagement–two vital components to success in any economy.
